A giraffe Animal Adventure Park at Harpursvile, NY is expecting a calf, and the park is live streaming the birth.

This New York zoo chose to live stream April giving birth while daddy giraffe, Oliver stood in the background supporting his partner through the birth.

Amid the excitement surrounding a giraffe calf about to be born at Animal Adventure Park in Harpursville, there are questions from the community about the parents.

The live feed went viral and was up for several hours before it was abruptly pulled off air Thursday morning.

The park said it put up the live feed as an educational tool.

Zoo owner, Jordan Patch, took to Facebook and addressed the incident as an example 'of why we can not have nice things'.

"There are a handful of extremist and animal-rights activists that may not agree with that, and that's okay, but have unfortunately reported our YouTube cam as sexually explicit and nude content that has made for its removal", a zoo spokesperson said. "You can thank Animal Rights Extremists for this issue". As of 4 p.m. Thursday, however, April the giraffe had yet to give birth.

Others are confused about how the giraffe could be flagged for nudity. The calf will weigh around 150 pounds and be about 6' tall at birth.

“By bringing awareness, we can bring appreciation – and then conservation – to giraffes in the wild, ” said Patch. A baby giraffe is an unusual thing at any zoo, especially a private one in Upstate New York.
