Why is Sunday's NASCAR race historic for Atlanta Motor Speedway?

Keselowski on the win: "These things aren't easy".

He grew up in Dawsonville, Georgia that is about two hours away from Atlanta Motor Speedway by auto. What better way to do it then at a track that represents his driving style better than any other.

"We've had races where we've led a bunch of laps and things fall apart at the end", Keselowski said Sunday evening, savoring the 22nd victory of his career with his almost 2-year-old daughter, Scarlett, crawling around on the floor of the media center. "Unfortunately, it's part of our sport".

On the restart, with 11 laps to go, Brad Keselowski lined up 3rd.

He won the pole.

It's the second week in a row Busch's tires have been a storyline on race weekend.

NASCAR race cars don't have speedometers, but tachometers on the cars' digital dashes allow drivers to judge speeds along pit road. "I really hate it for everybody on this Jimmy John's Ford". Keselowski grabbed the lead, only to get word that his crew had not properly attached some of the tire lug nuts during his own pit stop. It's a driver favorite because what they do with their feet can have a much greater payoff than at most any other place they compete.

When Harvick faltered, Keselowski was ready to pounce.

He was poised to take advantage when Harvick blundered again.

Larson said Keselowski's ability to run on the high line made life hard for him throughout the race.

"I stayed pretty cautious on my pit road lights because everybody was getting popped", said Target Chevrolet driver. "But it was my own doing". The challenges are still there on keeping the track raceable and making it something we can have a race on [Sunday] and make sure we have a quality race.

"As far as the repave goes, my only thing there is I'm going to enjoy this week", Elliott said. "You've got to run right to the limit".

DUBAI TENNIS CHAMPIONSHIPS: Andy Murray captured his first title of the year and became the first British man to win the tournament in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, in its 25-year history when he defeated Fernando Verdasco 6-3, 6-2.

NO EXCITEMENT YET: The three-stage system has yet to produce the kind of drama NASCAR was hoping for when it made the drastic change. Brad Keselowski took the checkered flag that Harvick seemed destined to grab.

Two glaring benefits have been not lacking in performance and the biggest is probably the collaboration with arguably Ford's best team, Team Penske. Harvick led 64 laps, more than any driver, but fell to fourth. This is familiar territory for Harvick at Atlanta, he has led the most laps in five of the last six Atlanta races, but has just one win-all the way back in 2001 when he filled the seat left by Dale Earnhardt Sr.'s passing. It was his first win at the track in nine tries.

"Don't do it!" the victor pleaded.

NASCAR's policy on going to the garage during the race received more clarification this week. He finished 21st, two laps behind. I absolutely believe this will be a breakout season for the young driver.
