Gilgit-Baltistan to be declared a Province

Reiterating that terrorism is the grossest violation of human rights and should be acknowledged, Chakrabarti said that part of the territories of Jammu and Kashmir remain under the forcible and illegal occupation of Pakistan."It is unfortunate that in recent times the people of Pakistan Occupied Kashmir have become victims of sectarian conflict, terrorism and extreme economic hardship because of Pakistan's occupation and discriminatory policies", she said.

He had also said that a constitutional amendment would be made to change the status of the region, through which the United States dollars 46 billion China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) passes.

India's outburst follows reports from Pakistan stating that a committee headed by Sartaj Aziz, adviser to the Pakistan prime minister on foreign affairs, had proposed giving the status of a province to Gilgit-Baltistan.

Gilgit-Baltistan is treated as a separate geographical entity by Pakistan.

It is not going to be an easy run for the Pakistani government, considering the hurdles in the way.

Mourinho fumes at Rostov pitch
Manchester United gave as good as they got in the challenges and were victims of some bad play acting as well by Rostov . Also the fact that they are used to playing on that pitch, and United are not, might give them a slight advantage.

In 2015, India had objected to Pakistan holding polls in Gilgit Baltistan.

Asserting that Pakistan's present regime wants to create fear among the indigenous people of the region, Khan said those who violate their orders by demanding something peacefully are declared as terrorists.

Thursday criticised Pakistan's reported efforts to declare Gilgit-Baltistan - also known as the Northern Areas - as Pakistan's fifth province and described the move as "illegal" and "completely unacceptable". Chakrabita responded to Pakistan's earlier charges that India did not adequately care for its minorities by claiming Pakistan was not only becoming the largest producer of terrorism in the world, but also a major oppressor of religious minority rights.

"The indigenous people of PoGB and BNF particularly have no place to file an appeal/writ against these Pakistani allegations and slanders and atrocities because there is no legal/constitutional judicial system in this UN-declared disputed part of J&K", he added. The region was rocked by violence previous year when Indian security forces shot dead influential separatist leader Burhan Muzaffar Wani, causing anti-India demonstrations in the majority-Muslim area and the deaths of up to 90 people in the ensuing unrest.

"BNF and other political and religious workers in Pakistan occupied Gilgit Baltistan are facing death sentence in fake cases without right of appeal in any High Court and Supreme Court", he said.
