Charlie Dent: Senate should lead Russian Federation probe

The White House has denied it tried to stop potentially damaging evidence about links between the President's team and Russian Federation from being made public. White House press secretary Sean Spicer holds up a document concerning a Washington Post story on Sally Yates as he talks to the media during the daily press briefing at the White House in Washington Tuesday, March 28, 2017.

The information seen by Nunes has not yet been shared with others, though the congressman said Tuesday that he hopes to share it with other members of the intelligence committee.

The investigation into whether or not the Trump campaign had dealings with Russian officials has been a topic of much discussion the moment it was announced.

Adding to the swirl of questions was the publication of a series of letters dated March 23 and March 24 involving a lawyer for former Acting Attorney General Sally Yates.

Trump fired Yates in January after she ordered Justice Department lawyers not to defend his first immigration order temporarily banning entry to the United States for citizens of seven Muslim-majority countries and refugees from around the world.

Schiff said he wanted to hear testimony from Yates about the events leading up to the firing of former national security adviser Michael Flynn.

"We believe that the department's position in this regard is overbroad, incorrect and inconsistent with the department's historical approach to the congressional testimony of current and former officials, " the attorney, David O'Neill, wrote in a letter. "We have no problem with her testifying, plain and simple", he said.

Gilgit-Baltistan to be declared a Province
It is not going to be an easy run for the Pakistani government, considering the hurdles in the way. In 2015, India had objected to Pakistan holding polls in Gilgit Baltistan.

Nunes said on Tuesday he has "no idea" why Democrats would call for him to step aside from the investigation.

Yates was sacked in January as acting attorney general after she refused to defend the Trump administration's first travel ban.

Rep. Jim Himes (D-Conn.) said during an interview early Wednesday that House Intelligence Committee Chairman Devin Nunes's (R-Calif.) behavior has been "aggressive" and "unusual" in recent days.

Yates and Brennan had made clear to government officials by Thursday that their testimony to the committee would probably contradict some statements that White House officials had made, according to a person familiar with the matter who spoke on the condition of anonymity.

Chairman Nunes, who worked on the Trump transition team, went to the White House last week to view reports he claims shows intelligence agencies collected incidental information on Trump transition personnel.

The top Democrats on Capitol Hill: Senate and House Minority Leaders Chuck Schumer and Nancy Pelosi, as well as the House Intelligence Committee's Ranking Member, Adam Schiff, all called for Nunes' removal from the probe Monday.

"I don't know where he got them from", said Spicer, who didn't mention Nunes' visit.
