Pacers bring back Lance Stephenson to help stretch run

In three seasons with IN, he averaged 10.1 points and 2.6 assists.

The Pacers offered Stephenson a five-year, $44 million deal in the summer of 2014 to remain with the team, but he chose to sign with the Charlotte Hornets (he received a three-year, $27 million contract from the Hornets).

Adam Zagoria of FanRag Sports confirmed the move. It's essentially only a one year deal as the first season will only be seven regular season games plus the postseason.

Stuckey has averaged 12.6 points, 3.6 assists and 2.9 rebounds in his career with Detroit and Indiana.

Stuckey planned to opt out of his contract at the end of the season, sources said, but the Pacers needed to make the decision to open a roster spot to help their depleted bench.

He then appeared in six games for the T-Wolves on a 10-day contract, but they decided against bringing him back.

One of those injured reserves is guard Rodney Stuckey, who is expected to miss 4-6 weeks with a strained patella tendon in his left knee. George and Stephenson, the former teammates, chatted on the phone Wednesday before the Indiana Pacers' game against the Memphis Grizzlies.

While Stephenson had a rocky first tour in IN, he is just 26 years old and is likely coming to the Pacers with something to prove.

Stephenson played his first four National Basketball Association seasons with the Pacers from 2010 to 2014.

Question is, does that player still exist?

At times, the edge Stephenson played with created problems. The Pacers had until April 10 to release him and avoid paying his 2017-18 player option, worth $7 million.
