Prosecutors: Facebook assault victim was threatened with dog

A second teen boy has been arrested in connection with the sexual assault of a 15-year-old girl that was streamed last month on Facebook Live, police said. "Not only does she have to live with this the rest of her life, but this video was put out for the world to see", said Assistant State's Attorney Maha Gardner.

Police spokesman Anthony Guglielmi told reporters that the boy will be brought to a juvenile detention center, where a 14-year-old boy who was arrested in the same case over the weekend is now being held. He was charged with "aggravated criminal assault, manufacturing of child pornography, and dissemination of child pornography".

The mother said the girl's uncle had told her about a video on Facebook fb Live that showed the assault. Police say they expect others to be charged.

Police spokesman Jose Estrada told CNN after the assault that the video showed mostly closeups of body parts, and identifying the suspects had been a challenge for investigators.

Associate Judge Patricia Mendoza scheduled the next hearing for April 28, the Chicago Sun-Times is reporting. At least five or six attackers participated in the assault on the girl, who police said was lured into the basement of a building not far from her home in the Lawndale neighborhood on March 19.

"No woman should ever be treated the way this young woman was", Johnson said Sunday at a news conference announcing the arrest. Authorities said since the attack, the victim has been traumatized, becoming the target of bullies.

"But this is worse for the young woman", Gardner said. She also said that most of the sex acts were carried out by the 14-year-old. "We obviously have a video of the incident, so we have verifiable objective evidence of what occurred to this young lady, but she's just having a very hard time". She was taken to Comer Children's Hospital and subsequently was reunited with her family.

On March 20, her mother approached police Superintendent Eddie Johnson outside the 10th district headquarters and brought to his attention the live stream. "They've humiliated themselves, humiliated their families, and now they're going to be held accountable for what they did", Johnson said.

"It just disgusts me that people can look at those videos and not pick up the phone and not dial 911", Chicago Police Supt.
