Did Alonzo Mourning Trap Ben Carson Inside An Elevator?

Ben Carson's housing tour in Miami on Wednesday hit an unusual snag.

Once freed, Carson went about like nothing happened - and he tweeted a photo of himself with Mourning and did not mention the incident.

On Wednesday morning, Miami Herald reporter, Rene Rodriguez, had a bit of an interesting assignment: Cover Housing and Urban Development Secretary Ben Carson's meeting with National Basketball Association great Alonzo Mourning at Courtside Family Apartments, a local affordable housing project. Things started off fine for the housing secretary on the bottom floor. "That must be a relief", WTVJ's Julia Bagg asked the secretary upon his large group's exit from the elevator.

According to the report, only one in four income-eligible renters received assistance.

Firefighters had to rescue him so he could then meet with former Miami Heat star Alonzo Mourning. This comes less than a month after The Washington Post obtained a budget outline, which appears to show President Trump's plan to slash HUD's funding by more than $6 billion.

Carson will make a stop in Allapattah before finishing off Wednesday at Florida Memorial University. Michael Liu, the director of Miami-Dade County Public Housing, was also in the elevator.
