Microsoft is announcing something big on May 2

This morning, Microsoft started sending out invites for a hardware and software launch event, to be held in NYC on May 2nd.

Microsoft's Azure Hybrid Benefit aims to make it cost effective for clients who are already using Windows Servers.

According to sources familiar with the matter, we won't be seeing a Surface Phone, which is no surprise to anyone no matter how much certain Windows die-hards want Microsoft to release such a thing. It's also possible Microsoft may take this opportunity to reveal the hardware design of its upcoming Xbox Project Scorpio, just ahead of its E3 event in June.

The company is also believed to be working on Windows 10 Cloud, a new Windows 10 SKU that is locked down and restricted to only running apps from the Windows Store. And the word is that Microsoft is working on a streamlined new version of Windows 10, aimed at the educational market, where Google's Chromebooks are now beating Apple soundly and closing in on Windows' lead.

This January, the company announced Intune for Education which is a cloud based application and device management service which offers easy setup and management in shared learning environments. And today they actually officially announced the event. But what may come as a shock is that we're hearing that we won't see a Surface Pro 5 at the event either.
