Farooq Abdullah demands governor rule in JK, says Hurriyat is stake holder

The electoral fate of nine candidates, including National Conference president Farooq Abdullah, will be known today as counting of votes for the bypoll to Srinagar Lok Sabha constituency is underway. Seven other candidates are in the fray apart from Abdullah and Khan.

Only 7.14 per cent of voters had turned up at booths for the April 9 vote that was marred by unprecedented violence.

After he won the Srinagar by-poll by a margin of over 10,000 votes Farooq Abdullah appealed to the President Pranab Mukherjee to impose Governor's rule in Jammu and Kashmir.

Of the 89,865 votes cast, Farooq polled 48,555 while Khan polled 37,779.

He further said the results are showing that the people are in favour of the National Conference.

Jay-Z removes his extensive catalog from Spotify and Apple Music
Since then, Tidal's expansion strategy has largely revolved around exclusive content, both new and old. A rep for Spotify stated that "some of Jay Z's catalog has been removed at the request of the artist".

Abdullah, after winning the election said he would not resign from the parliamentary seat since he "believes in democracy", putting to rest speculations of his resignation due to low low voter turnout. He later joined Congress, which had entered a pre-poll alliance with the National Conference. The only time Farooq lost an election was in 2014 when he suffered a crushing defeat at the hands of his protégé and former PDP leader Tariq Hamid Karra from Srinagar.

The NC said it would not celebrate the victory because of the violence on polling day on April 9 in which eight civilians died in firing by security forces.

I request them not to do such things which will add to the fire and render it uncontrollable, Abdullah said.

Only 709 people voted when 38 polling stations went for re-election four days after the bloodshed. "Four wars between India and Pakistan haven't changed anything; boundaries stand exactly there where they had been before".
