April the giraffe gives birth as millions watch live feed

Before an online audience of more than a million viewers, April the giraffe gave birth to a male calf Saturday at a NY zoo, ending weeks of proverbial pacing by animal lovers in a virtual worldwide waiting room. Her pen was live-streamed during her pregnancy on the Animal Adventure Park website, and animal lovers everywhere were are very excited that she has finally given birth.
Though details of the calf are scarce, the Associated Press notes, newborn giraffes typically weigh around 150 pounds and are about 6 feet at birth. The staff at the Animal Adventure Park are excited for the new addition to their zoo family. The calf's father, Oliver, who watched the birth from an adjacent pen, is a first-time father at the age of 5.
Many have watched the pregnant giraffe through different live streams provided by numerous feeds throughout the Internet, including the CBSDFW Facebook page. The calf will then move on to another zoo. She's been living her life on a livestream since February, and thousands upon thousands of people have been eagerly awaiting the arrival of her baby. And by the time she gave birth more than 1.2 million people were following along online.
The privately owned zoo began livestreaming from April's enclosure in February.
