Globally topping 10K chargers, Tesla supercharger network to expand double in 2017

Tesla will almost double its Supercharger electric auto charging network this year, the company said Monday.
Tesla blogged this morning that, "It is extremely important to us and our mission that charging is convenient, abundant and reliable for all owners, current and future".
This year, the number of Superchargers available for public use will double from 5,000 to 10,000, according to a blog post that Tesla published Monday.
Tesla, based in Palo Alto, said it's also building bigger stations along its busiest routes and will add more than 1,000 Superchargers in California alone.
Additionally the company has built more then 9,000 destination chargers at hotels, restaurants and the like for users to charge during their time shopping or staying the night.
It further added that many sites will soon enter construction to open in advance of the summer travel season. After first launching its Supercharger network in 2012, it took Tesla almost five years to build out its Supercharger network to 5,400 fast-charging connections.
