Google's Waymo Forms Self-Driving Alliance With Uber Rival Lyft

Waymo, the self-driving auto unit that operates under Google's parent company, has signed a deal with the ride-hailing start-up Lyft, the New York Times reported citing two people familiar with the agreement.
Waymo and Lyft are forging a new partnership to work on self-driving cars, spokespeople for both companies confirmed Sunday night. The companies declined to elaborate more specifically on the terms of the deal or what the work would entail.
Neither offered many details of the agreement, which was reported earlier by the New York Times. In a ealed opinion, Alsup also granted a partial injunction against Uber.
Waymo, an automotive business owned by Google's parent company, is now holding public trials on its own using Chrysler minivans equipped with its technology in Phoenix.
"Waymo holds today's best self-driving technology, and collaborating with them will accelerate our shared vision of improving lives with the world's best transportation", the company said.
