Last rites of veteran actress Reema Lagoo performed in Mumbai

Reema Lagoo, a Bollywood actress who often played the role of the "loving mother", died after suffering a cardiac arrest on Wednesday night in a hospital in Mumbai. She was hospitalised at Kokilaben Dhirubhai Ambani hospital in Mumbai shortly after midnight.
"It's really shocking to know that she's not with us anymore". Her family then took her to hospital around 1 am. Filmmaker Mahesh Bhatt, a friend and the writer of Naamkarann, told PTI: "When a friend passes away, one is hurled into deep silence".

She last appeared as the mother of the male lead in Hindi romantic drama Naamkarann which premiered last September and is still airing.
She is survived by her daughter Mrunmayee, who is also a theatre and film actress as well as theatre director. Lagoo will be remembered for her roles in films like Maine Pyaar Kiya, Hum Aapke Hain Koun, Kuch Kuch Hota Hai and Kal Ho Naa Ho, and television serials like Tu Tu Main Main and Shrimaan Shrimati.
