Although the police denied any communal motive, suspicions that the attack was indeed communally motivated led to protests and shutdowns in many of Jamshedpur's Muslim-dominated areas. Several tribal leaders conceded the people were guarding the villages with bows, arrows and Lathis.

North Korea on "Maximum Alert"
Despite these warnings from the U.S., North Korean officials have not shown any signs of stepping back from their nuclear tests. Officials and experts, however, claimed that no nation has mastered the necessary technology to follow through with the threat.

In the first incident, two people were beaten to death in the Sosomoli village, DIG (Kolhan region) Prabhat Kumar told PTI. As protests against these attacks grew over the weekend and curfew was imposed in parts of Jamshedpur, the culprits remained at large while police said it didn't know how the rumour began or who started it. Tribals are too gullible to such rumours owing to their lack of education. Only identifying the people who forwarded the messages will not do.

Mob violence continued unabated across India as a charged mob killed three Muslim cattle traders on rumours that they were involved in the kidnapping of local children. "Even during afternoons mothers don't want their children to play or loiter around", she added.

The messages widely circulated on WhatsApp had information about sedatives seized from the miscreants, injections and handkerchiefs used to administer them on children, and about how they dress in black speaking "various languages". "At the same time, awareness is also being created". The mob chased the auto till Daru village, and while three escaped, they started beating Sheikh Naim, and set their vehicle on fire. This, he said, could have driven villagers to commit such brutal killings.
