The photo and video sharing app said the new feature will also enable "friends of friends" who are nearby to contribute and view the Story using location-based technology called geofencing. Instagram users can now search for a location or hashtag, and see a Story compiled from Story posts by other users that include that location sticker, hashtag sticker, or hashtag in the caption. You can also search for any location, and you'll see a story ring for that place at the top of the page. After a few minutes, you should get a notification that your story has been added to the overall story for the location.
However, one can question if they do not want to be part of the stories included with hashtag and location in the Explore tab.
For Instagram, which has put Stories front and center within its app since the feature's launch, the update signals that they aren't done doubling down on the already immensely popular feature. It's a feature that will show off the massive amount of photos and videos being shared around the world every day on Instagram.
