Chairman Of NSCN (K) & Senior Naga Militant Leader SS Khaplang Dead

An Indian government official says the leader of a key insurgent group in India's remote northeast has died in a hospital in Myanmar.

Informing that a "Command Certificate" given by Khaplang to the cadres of all the insurgent groups operating from his base in Taga, Myanmar, used to facilitate a free movement of armed cadres in Naga dominated villages on either side of the global border, sources said no other Naga rebel leader has such influence to issue command certificate, which will be honoured by all the Naga village heads.

On the other hand, the Union minister said that, the ongoing talks with pro-talk faction group of United Liberation Front of Asom (ULFA) is in confidence level. In 2015, his group had attacked an Army convoy, killing 18 soldier and was wanted by the National Investigation Agency for the attack. "The NSCN-K will also suffer and it will be hard for them to achieve their goal now without Khaplang", he said.

After the Generals were mollified by Doval-Jaishankar duo, intelligence and military cooperation between India and Myanmar has been stepped up in the past two years. Meanwhile, there is no word either from Indian and Myanmar officials. While Chisi Swu was the chairman, Khaplang was vice chairman.

The banned ULFA (I) today condoled the death of NSCN (K) chief SS Khaplang in Myanmar yesterday.

Washing hands in cold water as good as hot
Just a short rub of the hands made a major difference the study, published in the Journal of Food Protection , found. They repeated these tests several times over six months.

He formed the group following differences with the NSCN (IM) leaders Isak Chishi Swu and Thuingaleng Muivah. They were given shelter and protection by the UNLF, Sana Yaima had recounted to this reporter more than a decade ago. The NSCN-K has Nagas from Myanmar as well as Nagas from Indian side.

Rijiju said the Indian government had withdrawn ceasefire with NSCN after banning it in 2015 through a special notification. This will also mean that the Chinese, who have been supporting and facilitating Baruah's movements, will consolidate their grip over this anti-India grouping now active three states-Nagaland, Manipur and Arunachal.

However, the group split in 1988, with Khaplang parting ways with Swu and Muivah due to clan rivalries between the Konyaks of Nagaland's Monday district and the Tangkhuls of Manipur's Ukhrul district.

Khaplang may have gone from the scene but the challenge he posed top the Indian state all these years, is far from over.
