French 'keeper's stoppage time blunder hands Sweden a vital win

Ola Toivonen's stoppage-time strike from the halfway line earned Sweden a dramatic 2-1 win over France in Group A of World Cup qualifying on Friday.

France are next in action on Tuesday, when they'll play a home friendly against England.

Incredibly, France still lost this game after goalkeeper Hugo Lloris did the unthinkable. It's luck too, that we got that chance. The Swedish forward hit the rolling ball and while a despairing Lloris scrambled to get back in time, the ball beat him to the goal with some time to spare.

Sweden is doing well in the 2018 World Cup qualifying stage, now in second in Group A of the competition with 10 points.

Unfortunately, the ball was intercepted at midfield by Sweden's Ola Toivonen who took aim at the empty net.

France had pulled ahead through Arsenal striker Olivier Giroud after 37 minutes, but the Scandinavians levelled before the break thanks to Jimmy Durmaz (43).

With Sweden just three points behind Group A leaders France in the race for an automatic qualification spot for the 2018 World Cup, there is a great deal of importance on Friday's game between the two nations. Then Durmaz equalised for Sweden in the second half. Look, Lloris is still a top-notch goalkeeper, but mistakes of this magnitude aren't supposed to be in a world-class keeper's repertoire.

It was a game of spectacular goals.
