Rockets, Nene reportedly agree to three-year, $11 million deal

Free agent center Nene agreed to a new contract with the Houston Rockets on Sunday after the team was forced to pull back an accepted four-year, $15-million deal due to the NBA's age rule. That said, Nene is still going to be over 38 years old by a little over one month in what would be the start of the fourth year of his new deal.

The Rockets are reportedly optimistic a deal will be worked out between both parties, but the wiggle room for the $4 million drop isn't much to tug away at. For only $3.6 million per year, it's clear that the Rockets' status as a contender is helping them string some cheap contracts together and attract the help they need.

After the first deal was pulled, Nene planned to talk to other National Basketball Association teams during free agency that opened Saturday. He made all 12 of his shots from the field.

Now that they're securing depth after signing Nene to a cheap deal, their roster is looking strong across the board.
