Saudis pressure Sudan's Al-Bashir to boycott Qatar

It is being reported that the deadline, which expired on July 2 (Sunday), has been extended for 48 hours on the request of Kuwait mediating in the crisis.

They issued a 13-point list of demands, including that Doha should curb diplomatic ties to Iran, sever ties with the Muslim Brotherhood and shut down the Al-Jazeera news network.

NAN reports that on June 24, the four Arab states handed the country a list of 13 demands, including some likely to infuriate Doha and exacerbate the region's worst crisis in decades.

While Trump has made it clear he supports Saudi Arabia and its allies, Tillerson has suggested that the demands on Qatar are excessive and may have less to do with terrorism than with long-standing feuds between the region's ruling families.

"Qatar had to return this Monday to the ombudsman kuwaiti its official response to these requests, in" a letter written" from its emir, sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani.

"UAE diplomats have suggested either suspending Qatar from the Gulf Co-operation Council, the regional trading bloc, or seeking to impose sanctions on countries that continue to trade with Qatar".

On June 27, during a visit in Washington, Saudi Foreign Minister Adel al-Jubeir called the demands non-negotiable.

The Foreign Ministers of these four nations will meet on Wednesday to discuss the situation.

Qatar's foreign minister, Mohammed bin Abdulrahman al-Thani, flew to Kuwait to hand-deliver the reply to Kuwait's emir, according to the news agencies of both Qatar and Kuwait.

Qatar denied all allegations, but the country's authorities stated that they were open to negotiations.

The UAE ambassador to Russia, Omar Ghobash, has previously said that Qatar could face fresh sanctions if it does not comply with the demands.

Arab countries said that there is no scope for agreement on demand and at the same time it warned that if Qatar does not accept these demands then steps will be taken against it. The list of demands was presented to Kuwait, which is acting as the mediator between the sides, a week and a half ago as an ultimatum.

"The state of Qatar... is rejecting it as a principle", he said, adding: "We are willing to engage in providing the proper conditions for further dialogue".
