No Riyad Mahrez transfer bids, says Leicester boss Craig Shakespeare

Craig Shakespeare plans to hold one-to-one talks with Riyad Mahrez to establish the Algerian's state of mind in the wake of his announcement that he wants to leave.

The 21-year-old shone for Monaco last season and Arsenal have made a £40m bid, which has angered Mahrez as he looks for a way out of the King Power Stadium, according to the Daily Mirror.

The Algeria worldwide wants to join the Gunners and feels his club are backtracking on a vow made to him when he snubbed an exit to sign a new contract last summer.

Arsenal are interested in signing the former PFA Player of the Year but Leicester's valuation is close to £50million and suitors have so far been reluctant to pay that price.

"Ultimately he's got a contract with us and he has to understand that - he has to be professional". As Craig Shakespeare writes the prologue of what would be a new chapter in the club's history, the 26-year old's presence alone could be detrimental to their interests, not to forget that - with all due respect - his lack of loyalty could be contagious.

Mahrez reported back for pre-season on Friday and will travel with Leicester to Austria and then Hong Kong for the Premier League Asia Trophy against Liverpool, Crystal Palace and West Bromwich Albion.

'With making a statement like that of course it's how you're accepted by the other players, ' Shakespeare added. Shakespeare has though warned Mahrez not to down tools to force through a move.
