Mexico President Hopes US Relations Will Focus on 'Positive Ends'

The president, referring to Peña Nieto as a "friend", said that it's been a "very interesting" day at the G-20 Summit and signaled that the USA and Mexico are making progress in re-negotiating NAFTA.

The two leaders held a bilateral meeting at the G20 summit and shook hands afterward in front of a swarm of reporters.

Immigration chatter aside, Trump and Nieto reportedly had a productive meeting Friday, especially in regards to their discussions on NAFTA.

Trump also praised President Nieto as his "friend", following the Mexican president canceling what was one of the administration's first White House guest visits.

In addition Trump has angered Mexico with attacks on Mexican immigrants as "criminals, drug dealers and rapists" and his insistence on holding tough new trade negotiations with its southern neighbour. President Trump has also received skepticism from his own supporters regarding his lack of progress on the wall, as bids to build the wall are still now under review.
