IPhone 8 Problems Causing 'Panic' at Apple

The estimate cut comes a day after Fast Company reported that Apple is rushing to try to fix software bugs affecting the next iPhone and there's a "sense of panic" among the team.

Multiple reports have previously suggested Apple will let new iPhone owners charge their devices wirelessly through a separate charging station accessory.

There has been a lot of rumors and speculations going around regarding the iPhone 8, which has also been nicknamed as the iPhone X and the iPhone Pro. And the portrait mode feature for that camera was further delayed while AAPL perfected the software.

Wireless charging has always been rumoured for the next-generation of Apple's iconic smartphone. Fast Company's source believes Apple is using the Qi wireless standard, while components for the feature will be supplied by Broadcom Ltd.

Specifically, Apple is said to be facing major issues with wireless charging, which this report again pegs to be of the inductive type. Especially in light of the fact that Touch ID plays an integral role in the security of Apple Pay, it seems farfetched that Apple would suddenly abandon it for a brand-new, untested technology.

There have also been claims and counterclaims Apple may choose not to include a Touch ID sensor in the next machine. That too has been a worry for Apple, and a potential cause of delays-not because of the quality of the hardware, but because of a scarcity of OLED manufacturing facilities around the world.

Tesla shares finished down 2.5% at $352.62 following the shortened trading session on Monday and are today down over 5%. The Model 3 has widely been publicised as Tesla's first true mass-market EV, but that doesn't mean it's cheap.

As for the new 3D sensor, which Bloomberg previously claimed is used to unlock the phone with facial recognition, instead of using a fingerprint, the source "says Apple has been struggling to get the sensor to work reliably". It's believed to be the possible replacement for the device's lack of the Touch ID fingerprint sensor.

Here's hoping that Apple makes it through and resolves the software issues ahead of the likely September launch. The issue with some of these features rests with software, meaning the company could ship the phone with necessary hardware and enable the software side at a later date once it's ready. The very first device Apple is planning to release with an OLED screen is none other than iPhone 8.

Last year Apple introduced the snazzy Piano Black colour with the iPhone 7 and the iPhone 7 Plus.

That being said, the iPhone 8 won't be the only thing to look forward to.

Better next year: the analysts do expect iPhone shipments to perk back up to 243M shipped units in FY18. Since their release in 2008, Apple's smartphones have relied upon quid crystal display (LCD) technology for their screens.
