Venus Williams to face Garbine Muguruza in Wimbledon women's final

Venus Williams has her eyes set on the sixth Wimbledon title as she defeated Johanna Konta 6-4, 6-2 in the semi-finals of Women's Singles.

And that was evident throughout her victory on Centre Court, with the 37-year-old booking a second Grand Slam final of the year in just 73 minutes - having already reached the showpiece of the Australian Open.

Williams had her own landmark moment on Center Court with a 6-3, 7-5 win over French Open champion Jelena Ostapenko that made her the oldest semifinalist at the All England Club since Martina Navratilova 23 years ago.

JOHANNA KONTA says she is living a childhood dream and now she must beat her childhood idol as Venus Williams stands in the way of her reaching a first Wimbledon final.

Garbine Muguruza won the first set 6-1 against Magdalena Rybarikova in the women's semifinals at Wimbledon.

Should Konta go on to cement her place in history by becoming the first British woman to win the Wimbledon single's title since Wade in 1977, she will also receive the tournament's largest ever prize of £2.2m.

Responding police found Roberson's green Chevy Malibu in a ditch as it apparently veered off the road after the incident. After the two cars collided, the suspect got out of his vehicle, shot her in the head, and fled the scene.

"I definitely feel like there's no reason why I would not be able to be in a position to win a title like this one day", Konta said. Later, Rohan Bopanna and Gabriela Dabrowksi play Henri Kontinen and Heather Watson in the mixed doubles quarter finals.

For Williams, if she were to pull off the wonderful comeback, it would be her first major title since 2008.

"I am very happy and very pleased to be representing Great Britain, that is my home", Konta said, according to The Independent.

"I've played a lot of finals here". "I know [the crowd] love Jo and she gave it her all today". The crowd were very nice to me.

"It's fine to be the last British women's victor to win Wimbledon, but it's better to have plenty of British players to win". The few opportunities that I did get, she did incredibly well to take them away from me. I missed her terribly.

1 acknowledged she was outclassed as the 10th seed overpowered her to set up a final with Garbine Muguruza on Saturday. I couldn't ask for more, but I'll ask for a little more! The ferocious atmosphere inside Centre Court was dampened when Williams clinched an early break when two net cords fell her way; taking the wind out of Konta's sails.
