Court ends hearing into corruption charges against Pakistan PM

The organisations have urged Sharif to "honourably" resign as he has "lost the moral and legal authority" to continue in his office after a joint investigation team (JIT) report accused him and his family of evading tax by setting up offshore companies to purchase high-end properties in London.

The meeting took place hours after the three-member Implementation Bench of the Supreme Court headed by Justice Ejaz Afzal Khan reserved its judgement in Panama Papers Case.

Under Pakistani law, the court has the power to disqualify Sharif if he is found guilty.

The date for announcement of the verdict will be released later.

He said the bar councils have also sought the resignation of Finance Minister Ishaq Dar, Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif and the prime minister's son-in-law Muhammad Safdar.

Both sides are anxiously expecting the verdict of the country's highest court, which last week received a report from a group charged with investigating the allegations against Sharif and three of his children.
