Trump to Announce Apple Supplier Foxconn Opening Wisconsin Plant

President Donald Trump's July 26 announcement that Wisconsin had won the high-stakes fight to be home to Foxconn's first us manufacturing plant-a $10 billion investment that could mean 3,000 jobs or more for the state-the largest economic development project in state history.

According to reports, Wisconsin is offering a taxpayer-backed incentives package worth as much as $3 billion to woo Foxconn.

"This is a great day for American workers and manufacturers and everyone who believes in the concept and the label 'Made in the U.S., ' " said President Donald Trump at the White House announcement.

"We have a lot of companies moving into the United States and we are negotiating with a lot of companies", Trump said then.

The new outpost - formally unveiled at an event at the White House on Wednesday - primarily will manufacture LCD screens.

Priebus had previously hinted that Wisconsin could be the victor of the multistate competition for the new factory from Foxconn, best known for its role assembling Apple's iPhones. He has made several announcements since his election in November about USA investments by both foreign and domestic manufacturers, building on his campaign focus on boosting American jobs. Vice President Mike Pence said the investment means "America is back".

When Foxconn executives met with Trump in the Oval Office, "the president said I know a good spot where you should go - that place in Kenosha", Priebus said.

Apple declined to comment on Trump's remarks, where or when the plants are planned for, as well as whether the Foxconn announcement is related to Apple.

Trump said Foxconn "will invest in southeast Wisconsin, while a larger facility is constructed over the coming years, and that facility is now under negotiation".

The announcement was made at the White House on Wednesday afternoon.

Seven states had competed for the Foxconn plant.

Walker said that the 20 million square-foot plant will be built in southeast Wisconsin and that the average salary for its workers will be $53,000 a year. He predicted that workers from rust belt states like NY would move to states like Wisconsin that were adding manufacturing jobs.
