In a blog she wrote on the KABC website Tweeden recounts how Franken had written a number of skits that were filled with sexual innuendo, including one she says involving Franken coming at her for a kiss. Al Franken of forcibly kissing her during a 2006 USO tour and of posing for a photo with his hands on her breasts as she slept.
"This is what you should be asking me about", Palin said, as she talked to reporters in the US Capitol, complaining about "double standards here".
Leeann Tweeden, a radio host at KABC 790, wrote that in 2006, she was on a United Services Organization (USO) tour and Franken was the main act.
Franken released a statement after Tweeden published her account, saying, "I certainly don't remember the rehearsal for the skit in the same way, but I send my sincerest apologies to Leeann".
Tweeden said what happened to her as she slept on the military plane was not amusing, which Franken said was his intention at the time of the incident.
Leeann Tweeden says the two incidents happened in December 2006 on a tour to entertain U.S. troops overseas, before Mr Franken entered politics.
Franken apologized Thursday but says he remembers the skit rehearsal differently, per the Hill.

She also agreed with the majority leader in the Senate, Mitch McConnell (R-Kentucky), who said that the ethics committee should evaluate the matter.
"I respect women. I don't respect men who don't", said Franken, who joined the Senate in 2009 after a career as a comedian. It isn't amusing. It's completely inappropriate.
"I understand why we need to listen to and believe women's experiences", he said. "I have let them down and am committed to making it up to them". "I shouldn't have done it", Franken added. "I said something like, 'Relax Al, this isn't SNL ... we don't need to rehearse the kiss'".
"He walked up to me, found me in a room, and said hello to me and I was very cold to him", she said.
"I hope and expect that the Ethics Committee will fully investigate this troubling incident, as they should with any credible allegation of sexual harassment", he said. "Regardless of party, harassment and assault are completely unacceptable - in the workplace or anywhere else".
Tweeden said she was inspired to tell her story by women members of Congress who spoke up against harassment this week.
