Los Angeles Roasts During Hottest Thanksgiving on Record

He said this trend of above-average temperatures could continue into the winter if predictions from the Climate Prediction Center hold steady.

The National Weather Service at Lincoln predicted a high of 62 degrees for today, but also issued a hazardous weather outlook cautioning about strong wind gusts that could create issues for large vehicles traveling on east-west roads. The record for November 23 is 78 set in 1932.

He said a ridge of high pressure is to blame for the warmer weather, and while the Valley is supposed to be cooling down, temperatures will still be higher than usual.

The National Weather Service of Great Falls says this wind event isn't too unusual for our area.

Temperatures in downtown Los Angeles reached 91 degrees on Thursday, making this year's Thanksgiving holiday the hottest since official record keeping began in 1877.

Downtown Los Angeles reached 93 degrees Wednesday, breaking the record for the date of 89 degrees, set in 1950.

Records were also set in Long Beach, where the temperature reached 96 and topped the 2015 record of 88.

If Thursday's high in downtown Los Angeles reaches 90, as forecast, it would tie a record set on November 23, 1903, Thompson said.

But by the weekend the warm temperatures will ease and rain returns.
