Hannibal Buress Fights With Cops, Gets Arrested, and It's Caught on Video
Dec 11, 2017, 01:34
The Twitter page for the Police Department of Miami wrote that the comic was arrested for "disorderly intoxication" on the 9th of December around 10:30 pm. The station also reported that a police source says the comedian did not show any signs of intoxication and was cooperative. The video below shows Buress handcuffed and challenging the Miami cops to justify what probable cause they have to arrest him. It's just the latest in a long line of unfavorable videos that have been made public of police officers getting into it with supposedly innocent bystanders, especially if they belong to a minority group. He screams at the officers, "Am I under arrest?" "Explain what I'm detained for".
According to police records obtained by The Miami Herald, Buress was booked into a Miami-Dade jail at 1:57 a.m. and posted bail around 6 a.m. The arrest spawned the Twitter hashtag "Free Hannibal Buress". "I know you're goofy as f*ck right now". What do you make of Buress' arrest? "Take the handcuffs off of me, I didn't do anything, I'm not getting in your vehicle", he said. The Miami New Times points toward initial reports that the comedian attracted law enforcement's attentions for "trespassing". After one cop accuses him of being hard, Buress can be heard laughing and declaring, "He's just salty because I roasted his ass".
Representatives for Buress did not immediately respond to Variety's request for comment.
