Kulbhushan Jadhav meets mother, wife for 40 minutes

"Let me say it categorically", Pakistan Foreign Office spokesperson Mohammed Faisal told reporters after former Indian Navy officer Jadhav's wife Chetankul and mother Avanti met him for the first time after his detention in March 2016.

Indian media, however, reported that the meeting between Jadhav and his family members constitutes as "consular access" after Foreign Minister Khawaja Asif on a Geo News talk show had said that the meeting is a "concession".

The Foreign Office official maintained that RAW spy was caught red-handed and he confessed to his involvement in carrying out subversive activities in Pakistan.

Coming on today's meeting, Faisal said Jadhav and his family have expressed gratitude to Pakistani officials for the meeting.

Pakistan FO released pictures of Jadhav talking to his wife and mother from behind a glass screen. Twenty-two months since Kulbhushan Jadhav was taken into illegal detention in Pakistan, his family will finally get a glimpse of him on Monday.

Pakistan counter terrorism officials "arrest" Jadhav on the charges of terrorism and sabotage from Saravan, near the Iran border to the south east of Zahidan.

He said Pakistan wanted that Jadhav's family should be allowed to meet the Pakistani and Indian media. Jadhav's family is expected to leave Pakistan soon after the meeting.

Arizona Congressman Will Resign In January Amid Sexual Harassment Investigation
Trent Franks (R-AZ) is expected to resign from Congress, multiple outlets reported Thursday, citing unnamed sources. Franks went on to detail how he and his wife had "long struggled with infertility" and suffered three miscarriages.

"It was a humanitarian meeting, it was not consular access".

"We promised 30 minutes of the meeting but Jadhav and his mother requested towards the end of meeting that it should be increased and we did it". He said Jadhav has been kept in comfort here while showing a medical report to the media persons. Pakistan foreign ministry spokesperson Mohammad Faisal tweeted that the meeting was arranged in light of "Islamic traditions and based on purely humanitarian grounds".

"The meeting was very positive and they (Jadhav's mother and wife) were satisfied".

On the question why a glass wall was put between them during the meeting, he said it was done "for security reasons".

Indian has always denied the allegations, saying Jadhav was abducted from Iran where he had gone on a private business trip and then brought to Pakistan.

Times of India cited Asif as saying that the reason the meeting is taking place is because Pakistan didn't want India to create the impression that Jadhav was denied access to his family, especially since the spy's case is now being heard at the International Court of Justice (ICJ).
